Construction to Begin on Brock CHC’s New Home!

April 29, 2022

Construction of Brock Community Health Centre’s new facility will get underway this summer, an announcement that has been long-awaited by the community.

On April 26, 2022, Brock CHC received approval of its Stage 4.1 and 4.2 submissions from the Ministry of Health, which included the final estimate of cost and the selection of the builder, as well as a one-time grant increase of up to $5 million, bringing the total Ministry grant to over $15 million.  The project will now enter the construction phase.  JJ McGuire General Contractors Inc. has been awarded the construction contract.

Laurie Scott, MPP for Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock, visited the site of the new building to announce the news to Brock CHC Board members and staff.  “This new building is so important to the local community of Brock and surrounding area residents,” said MPP Scott.  “I’m thrilled we can finally get started on this much-needed facility and bring health care services closer to home and all under one roof.”

The new facility, to be located at 39 Cameron Street West in Cannington, builds on first-class health care, expanded programming and services, collaboration with other community services, and increased access for residents of Brock Township and surrounding areas in a safe and welcoming environment.

“Bringing this project to life is an important milestone in meeting the healthcare challenges we face in a rural area,” said John Grant, Brock CHC Board Chair.  “This new facility will shape the future of health care in Brock Township.”

“This is a very exciting time,” stated Janet McPherson, Executive Director.  “The new building will allow Brock CHC to centralize our current services into one purpose-built location and will provide opportunities for additional health and social service organizations to bring services to the north.”  Primary care services will remain at our satellite site in Beaverton.

A Groundbreaking Ceremony will be planned in the upcoming weeks as well as public meetings where detailed floor plans will be shared and information on programs and services will be provided.

Completion of the new building is expected in December 2023.
