Open Board Meetings
Brock Community Health Centre (Brock CHC) invites members of the public to attend meetings of the Board of Directors. The organization values a close working relationship with all stakeholders including the public and will conduct Board business in an open and transparent manner. The Board may exercise its right to hold “in camera” or special meetings that will not be open to the public where it determines it is in the best interests of the organization to do so.
The agenda of the Board meeting will be distributed at each meeting. Support material will only be provided to the Board of Directors. In order to ensure sufficient space is available, individuals wishing to attend a Brock CHC Board meeting must give 24 hours notice to the Board secretary by calling 705-432-3322. Attendees will be asked to identify themselves. Individuals wishing to make a deputation must notify the Board secretary at least seven days in advance of the scheduled meeting. Deputations will be limited to five minutes. Members of the public may address the Board or ask questions of the Board only when permission is granted by the Board Chair.
Recording devices, videotaping and photography are prohibited.

Community-Based Governance
Ted Foster is Chair of the Brock CHC Board of Directors and was on the Board/Steering Committee since 2004. He was a senior policy advisor for the Ontario Ministry of Municipal Affairs for over 30 years. He chairs the Facilities Committee of the Brock CHC Board and has led efforts to locate interim sites for programs and the acquisition of property in Cannington for a permanent site for the organization. He is a resident of Cannington.
Shirley Wheatley is Vice-Chair of the Brock CHC Board of Directors. She is a retired Nurse Practitioner having worked for many years as an Occupational Health Nurse at Markham Stouffville Hospital. She is a founding member of the Brock CHC Board of Directors. Her professional and volunteer experience has included public health, community health centres and many other social and health causes. She was Chair of the Board of Central Toronto Youth Services in the 1970s, Chair of the Nurse Practitioner Association of Ontario in 1975 and Chair of the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario in 1981-83. She is a resident of the Sunderland area.
Nancy Parliament is an employment counsellor with the Regional Municipality of Durham working out of the Uxbridge office serving the Townships of Brock, Scugog and Uxbridge. Ms. Parliament is a member of the North Durham Social Development Council. She is a lifelong resident of Brock Township. She is a founding member of Brock Community Health Centre and is currently Secretary of the Brock CHC Board of Directors. She is a resident of the Cannington area.
Larry O’Connor is Treasurer of the Brock CHC Board of Directors and founding member of Brock Community Health Centre. In 2006 and 2010, Mr. O’Connor was elected Mayor of the Township of Brock. He was elected as Regional Councillor, Regional Municipality of Durham, in 1997 and elected for one term in the Ontario Legislature in 1990. He has championed many social and health causes at a municipal, regional and provincial level. He lives in Sunderland.
Peter Elliott is a Member at Large of the Brock CHC Board of Directors. He is Vice-Principal at Brock High School and has extensive professional and volunteer experience with numerous educational, social service and community initiatives. He is a resident of Cannington.
Kim Bouwmeester is a Registered Holistic Nutritionist and operates her own, local, practice helping people with physical, emotional and lifestyle challenges, and she collaborates with alternative practitioners to provide support, education and wellness options. Her experience includes being a COPE Mental Health program manager, a crisis counsellor at a women’s shelter and, as a family, fostering several at risk children. As a volunteer, she provides nutritional guidance to local food pantry participants, and supports Durham Hospice, Arnold Chiari Foundation, and other organizations. She is a resident of Cannington.
Beth Ann Kenny has over 20 years experience in health care. Currently, she is managing the Federation of Health Regulatory Colleges of Ontario. Her extensive organizational involvement has included: the Trillium Chapter of the Canadian Society of Association Executives; the Ontario Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists; the Ontario Pharmacists’ Association; and more. She is Treasurer of the Brock Soccer Club and Treasurer of the Beaverton Special Events and other community initiatives. She is a resident of Beaverton.
Anne Kewley is a resident of Sunderland and is the Chair of the North House Board of Directors. Ms. Kewley is a former member of the Durham Region Food Charter Task Force and the Zone 7 Central East LHIN Collaborative for Uxbridge, Scugog and Brock Townships. She is a founding member of ORHAN, Ontario Rural Housing Action, and sits on the steering committee of SERA, Social Enterprise Rural Alliance.
Erin Lambert is a strong believer in physical health and well being with a special interest in health care opportunities and services. She has been an active contributor to her community, most recently as a volunteer with the Business Economic Development Action Committee and previously as an intern for the Beaverton 125 Special Events. She also was an intern for the events department at the Toronto Board of Trade. She is a resident of Beaverton.
Peter Prust is a small business owner and resident of Brock Township. As a volunteer, he has coached minor sports, been a hospital board trustee and participated in Township of Brock economic development activities. He is Past-President of the Beaverton Curling Club and is a member of the Brock Township Committee of Adjustment. He is a resident of the Wilfrid area.
Ted Smith has extensive board and volunteer experience having contributed to such organizations as: the Sunderland Coop, Durham Dairy Producers, Durham 4-H Association, Sunderland Agricultural Society, Sunderland Historical Society, and many more. He is currently a Township of Brock Councillor where he is Chair of the Finance Committee and has served as Chair of the Committee of Adjustment, Negotiating Committee and other committees. He is also a member of the Board of the Kawartha Conservation Authority. He is a resident of the Sunderland area.
Elizabeth van der Loo has been on the Brock CHC Board of Directors since 2006 and previously the Brock CHC Steering Committee. Her health care professional career has spanned both hospital acute care and community health, and she has assumed various educational, program management, quality and risk management, occupational health and safety and leadership roles. She is currently a Public Health Nurse in Injury Prevention in Port Perry.
Election to Brock CHC's Board of Directors
Qualified members of Brock Community Health Centre are eligible to be considered for election to the Brock CHC Board of Directors at the Annual General Meeting.
